Holmdel is home to rolling farms and nurseries, highly desirable residential communities, seriously upscale shopping malls and large corporate centers.

Lucent Technologies' world-famous Bell Laboratories, sheathed in black reflecting glass, is on Crawfords Corner Road, a stone's throw from Holmdel Park. Nearby is the corporate headquarters for Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company and the Bayshore Community Health Services medical campus.

Bisected by the Garden State Parkway, Holmdel is home to the lively PNC Bank Arts Center and the adjacent Vietnam Veterans' Memorial and Educational Center.

The town council works aggressively to preserve what's left of Holmdel's rolling hills and historic farms.

Holmdel's highly educated and involved population strives to provide top-rated education for its students. The 2001 population rocketed to 16,125, up 4,600 from 1990, an addition of 1,575 households. Over 91% of houses are owner-occupied. Median household income in 2000 was $153,400, up from nearly $84,000 in 1990.

At nearly 18 square miles the second largest township in the Northern Monmouth area, Holmdel’s 2001 tax rate is 2.642. Elementary school enrollment increased by 520 students, to 1,785, in 2000. Holmdel High's enrollment jumped 25% to 995 students.
